Emmanuel (Manny) Álvarez is a former ghoul and driver of a vampire named Julien Anjou. Álvarez wrote a tell all book "The Real Monsters" detailing his life and experiences, challenging the notion that all vampires are bad. According to the book, Anjou was in charge of cleaning up Masquerade messes, which often caused by Evil Vampires called the Sabbat and Werewolves who were out of control.
Chapters 3-5 describe an encounter in 2004 where a first change werewolf killed four people and caused tens of thousands in property damage at a Sports Bar in South San Francisco. The Vampires were horrified by the crime scene and found a naked young man in the center. The book goes on to describe the vampires in a positive light, having to keep the peace by covering up the incident and returning the young man to his people.
When they meet his people, they are at first hostile towards the vampires despite having one of their kind saved. Anjou is able to talk them down from an encounter that surely would be deadly. None of the werewolves are shocked that he just murdered 4 innocent civilians. They don't chastise him and in fact tell their own stories of how they had similar 'first changes'.

The book several times mentions a conscience within Kindred and the Garou seemed to have none of it. Kindred had a moral draw that made them try not to harm others. This kindred, Anjou, was mostly focused on his art (making fancy Rococo furniture) and his extensive love life.To all our surprise, not one werewolf scolded the young man. They glared suspiciously at the new clothes we had provided him, sniffing for something and remarking that he would be changing clothes. They seemed concerned there may be a tracking device.
Long uncomfortable minuets passed as the cold calculating wolfmen sussed out if this was a trap. The young man was clearly traumatized, but his experience was ignored as they did not yet accept him as one of their own. After what seemed like an eternity, they finally caved and started to comfort him. They did not seem the least bit phased by his previous murder of 4 civilians. They casually shared their own experiences and started to talk about him as a 'warrior'. The young man couldn't be eighteen yet and they commented he was a 'late-bloomer'. When they realized they were using terms, they separated themselves from our group in order to better indoctrinate their newfound child warrior."
